Good Friday Service
March 30, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Good Friday is the day on which we reflect upon and remember the crucifixion of Jesus outside the city of Jerusalem on a hill called Golgotha. But why do Christians call this day “good”? How can an execution at the hands of foreign invaders be considered good? It is because we as Christians understand that Jesus’ death on the cross was for our benefit. The bible tells us, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) and also that “Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.” (1 Peter 3:18).
This will be a devotional service centred around the Way of the Cross, a variation on the traditional Stations of the Cross which has been used by Christians for centuries, as a way to meditate on Jesus’ final journey on our behalf.
